The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) issued $13.8 million in CARES Act funding to support museums and libraries across the US affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Applications began pouring in, and within 30 days, the agency received a whopping 1,701.
The Ventera Grants Support Team immediately got to work configuring and managing the Electronic Grants Management System (eGMS) and supporting the program offices’ activities to allow the agency to intake and quickly process the unprecedented volume of applications. After two months of review, 68 museum and library services projects were selected and received funding from the CARES Act Grants.
The team provided vital assistance during the peer review, final checks, and award processes, and the analytics and reports they developed supported all phases of the award cycle.
While the pandemic’s widespread impact has changed how museums and libraries engage with their communities, it has not stopped them from providing information, education, support, entertainment, and other incredible resources. The IMLS CARES Acts Grants will aid museums and libraries in further creating and expanding online learning resources, establishing digital networks, digitizing collections, retraining staff, developing reopening plans, and much more.
