A large telecommunications customer was experiencing significant challenges with managing documentation for network construction projects. Originally, documentation was stored in a way that made it difficult to find and access necessary information to manage the new network construction and audit processes. It was difficult to audit civil vendors to ensure the work they were contracted to complete was done with all required contractual artifacts. Organizations were storing project artifacts in multiple databases, often duplicating the same information which caused unnecessary storage costs, RIM non-compliance, additional labor in duplicated business processes, and a lack of version control. The inability to quickly locate existing documentation led to additional project start-up costs associated with researching cell site “as-is” documentation and/or paying for site audits or deliverable recreation.
